This morning is an extraordinary day for my daughter and me. I cannot express it all in words. Today is Friday, December 15, 2023. This is the day my daughter graduated from college, a joyous occasion to celebrate her achievements and the wonderful journey she has embarked upon.
Unlike every other day, it’s raining heavily outside; I believe that when it rains, it is a blessing from Heaven and Earth. The sound of raindrops wakes up early, around 5:00 am. After meditation and practicing self-reflection, I am grateful to the Universe, God, Mother Mary, Guardian Angels, and my Ancestors for always blessing and protecting my children and me during this entire time, especially for over seven years when my children grew up without their father. Even though no father is by her side, my daughter has been resilient, grounded, rooted, independent, and a kind heart since high school and throughout college, and today marked a new journey for her. My daughter graduated for only three years in college while working part-time twenty hours per week with not only a bachelor’s degree of Science in Information systems with a Summa Cum Laude GPA of 3.9 after only three years in college while working part-time twenty hours per week, but also my daughter has grown up to be a young woman. I am very proud of my daughter.
My emotions surged again when I went to my daughter’s graduation ceremony and sat in the stadium with my son, waiting for them to call my daughter’s name to receive her diploma. And then, finally, that moment came. They called my daughter’s name, but I was so nervous. Seeing my daughter walk to the podium to receive her diploma brought tears to my eyes. I remember the feeling that I received the same degree as my daughter twenty-five years ago. I suddenly felt like I graduated again, but graduated from life school, And I give myself credit and certification of ‘I am Deeply Rooted, but I Dance.’
I am overwhelmed with emotions all day, for it signifies the culmination of my arduous journey in search of the true meaning of life. It is a journey that has taken me through countless struggles and challenges, but through it all, I am more self-aware and deeply rooted, but I dance with the Universe.
I am overwhelmed with emotions all day, for it signifies the culmination of my arduous journey in search of the true meaning of life so that I can find true happiness, balance, and, most importantly, peace in all the areas: Body, Mind, Heart, Soul, and Spirit so I can raise my two children not only to have a degree so that they can take care of themselves financially but also spreading peace, love, kindness, generosity, and compassion to my children and I believe that someday they will understand and do the same thing to their loved ones and those surrounding them. It is a journey that has taken me through countless struggles and challenges, but through it all, I am more self-aware and deeply rooted while I dance with the Universe.
I want to convey the profound importance of finding your path that brings you peace and fulfilment. It is not an easy road to tread, but it is worth every ounce of courage and determination.
A certain fearlessness comes with embracing your true self and making decisions that align with your deepest desires. It is about breaking free from the constraints of societal expectations and embracing the person you were meant to be. It is a liberating experience, both physically and spiritually, as you shed the layers that have held you back and step into the fullness of your authentic self.
When a heart is grateful, the mind will undoubtedly follow peace. The ocean waves need the moon for guidance, while the ecosystem needs the coherence of its inhabitants. Our heart needs the mind to think rationally, and our mind needs the heart for intuitive, emotional approval; hence, they should be exceptionally in harmony with one another to lead a happy and contented life and, in the long run, achieve the possibility of a grateful heart and a peaceful mind.
After years of experiencing turbulence in my physical, emotional, and mental health, I finally asked the one question each of us asks ourselves at least once in our lifetimes. And the question was simple yet so complex: What &’s the point of it all? What is the true purpose of our being? This brought me to the ingress of believing in the Universe, the supremacy of positive energy, and the higher consciousness. I am making this journey to self-healing through their infinite powers and aim to accompany you all. It was inevitable for me to form my faith in the Universe and let it guide and heal me because I needed it. It was during this trying time that my children looked up to me for strength, and my mother became reliant on my support.
I realized I had to rise to the occasion, as this was the first time anyone else could tackle the situation. It was then that I began to understand the profound calling of the Universe. It creates circumstances that urge us to turn to it, rely on its guidance, and recognize the hidden blessings in disguise. Some may be naturally drawn to this path, while others, like myself, are led to it through life and trials. The truth is we all have a purpose that is intertwined with the Universe and its grand design. Once we surrender ourselves to the mercy of the Universe, embracing its positive energy and higher consciousness, we open ourselves up to a world of miracles. These miracles can shape our lives, leading us to genuine happiness, gratitude, and inner peace. The key lies in accepting our destiny, acknowledging that everything happens for a reason, and recognizing that the Universe is constantly at play. When we wholeheartedly accept our circumstances, even those that may have caused us deep pain, we pave the way for self-healing and growth. Trusting in the process and the Universe’s ability to protect and guide us on our journey back home to a place of alignment and harmony with our true selves is crucial. " Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our hearts, we still cling to anything—anger, anxiety, or possessions—we cannot be free, as Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh wrote in his book The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation.
It is commonly advised that in times of emergency, we should secure our well-being before assisting others. Similarly, we must first learn to love and care for ourselves to extend love and care to others. As a widow, a single mother of two, and a caregiver for my mother, I recognize the importance of nurturing myself. Children are highly receptive to our energy, and negative energy can easily be transmitted to them. I can share this uplifting energy with my children and those around me by prioritizing my personal growth and becoming more positive.
This is precisely what I aim to discuss here: the significance of cultivating a grateful heart that appreciates the wonders of the Universe and the world around us and fosters a peaceful mind that brings contentment. Only through this inner harmony can we truly help others, make a positive impact, and fulfill our true purpose. On the contrary, if we find ourselves in constant conflict between our heart and mind, emotionally fragile, and unable to make sound decisions, we cannot cultivate a grateful heart or a peaceful mind. Consequently, we cannot radiate light within ourselves or those we encounter.
The first stage is to accept that your soul needs a mind with peace and a forever grateful heart. Then, you can go to the next step of finding it, being steady in your path and fearless. Engaging in activities that bring inner peace and contentment is crucial for a happy and satisfied lifestyle. Moreover, you must choose actions consistent with your principles, passions, and interests rather than following external or social constraints. By making decisions without hesitation, you give yourself the power to create a life that is authentic to who you are, which promotes fulfillment and self-actualization. In the whole process, you are bound to make self-healing progress.
When you make peaceful and brave decisions, you may motivate those around you. Your choices and actions can set an excellent example for others, inspiring them to follow their paths to happiness and personal development. You help create a compassionate and empowering atmosphere for others by living honestly and courageously. That is the teachings of my zen masters, and we should abide by them.
Let yourself fly into the vastness of the universal pursuit of healing and peace and witness the marvels be revealed. Now, let’s explore practical ways to cultivate a grateful heart and a peaceful mind. While there is no one-size-fits-all manual, we can always incorporate these practices into our lives. Firstly, set aside time each day to reflect on what you must be thankful for. This can be achieved through writing in a gratitude diary, creating a gratitude list, or simply expressing appreciation verbally. Direct your attention to any positive aspect of your life, no matter how small, and make it your primary focus. This exercise helps shift your perspective, allowing you to recognize and appreciate the positive elements in your life.
In addition, integrating meditation and mindfulness into your daily routine can be highly beneficial. These practices involve being fully present in the current moment without judgment. By cultivating a sense of inner calm and attentiveness, you can reduce stress, enhance self-awareness, and foster a peaceful state of mind. Reframing setbacks and challenges as opportunities for growth and learning is essential. Instead of dwelling on the negative aspects, strive to uncover lessons and positive elements in every situation. Shifting your mindset to a more positive outlook can enhance gratitude and peace. Furthermore, practicing compassion and kindness towards others generates a grateful heart and a deep sense of fulfillment. You can cultivate a peaceful mindset by promoting harmony and understanding in your interpersonal relationships.
Remember, positivity attracts positivity. Surround yourself with individuals who uplift and support you. Build connections with people who radiate optimism and gratitude. Engaging with positive influences can contribute to developing a grateful heart and a peaceful mind. Keep in mind that cultivating gratitude and inner serenity is an ongoing process that requires patience and commitment. Incorporating techniques that resonate with you daily can gradually foster a greater sense of thankfulness and tranquility.
As I share these practices, I speak from personal experience, as I, too, have embarked on a journey of self-healing, radiating positivity, and embracing gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon me by the Universe. Trust in the power of positive energy to bring about the transformation you seek. The Universe will provide solace and protection, shielding you from negativity and obstacles and making your life serene.
With care & gratitude!
